Delhi HC has asked the BCI to inspect Jamia Hamdard Law School. A petitioner primarily filed a petition seeking removal of the incumbent Dean SM Khan as he was not eligible to hold the post of Principal in any Indian law school.
The High Court of Delhi has asked the Bar Council of India (BCI) to conduct an inquiry into certain alleged irregularities and flouting of the University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations by the Jamia Hamdard Law School.
This came after a petitioner primarily asked for the removal of SM Khan, the incumbent Dean, as he was not eligible to hold the post of Principal at any Indian law school. Justice Rajiv Shakahar has issued a notice to UGC, BCI, Hamdard Jamia along with the Dean of Hamdard Institute of Legal Studies and Research which was accepted by Khan's counsel on his behalf. The matter has been scheduled for hearing on 12th May 2020.

The petition was filed by an activist named Nidhi Bobal through AdvocateMobashshir Sarwar in order to carry out the necessary inspection to the entire functioning of the Jamia Hamdard School. The advocate argued that the functioning of the school violates the UGC's statutory provisions which regulate the minimum qualification of teachers and other academic staff in colleges and universities. The plea also claims that the school is in total violation and non-compliance of the statutory provisions of the UGC and rules of the Bar Council of India. The law school has been further asked to submit a report of the action taken before the court.
