Teachers from various departments of Delhi University protested against the administration for tampering with their service conditions, which led to hurdles in their confirmation and further added barriers in taking up research work. The teachers also claimed that the Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, Mr. Yogesh K Tyagi has been taking unsatisfactory decisions and causing a lot of inconvenience to the teacher community.
Mr. Surendra Kumar, Assistant Professor, Department of History alleged that around 70 teachers belonging to department of political science, social work, commerce, African studies and cluster innovation center have not received the confirmation. It has been two years, and the varsity neither confirmed the appointment nor took a decision on the same.

Two days back, the administration of Delhi University issued a web-link to all the teachers via e-mail and directed them to fill the form to avail confirmation.

However, one of the teachers alleged that the link shared by the varsity opens to an online form indicating the teachers to apply for a new job. The teachers have completed 2 ½ years of service, and there is no point of carrying out scrutiny again. If the teachers do not protest, their appointment may become uncertain.
As per the Ordinance, the teachers must get confirmation regarding their appointment within 11 months. The Executive Council of the varsity is responsible for making confirmations, and if by any chance it fails to do so within 11 months, the appointment stands confirmed automatically without any notification.
