The University of Delhi is planning to set up nine new institutes with themes and sub-themes from climate change to Indian culture and heritage if granted Institute of Eminence (IoE) status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). For this purpose, DU had submitted an academic plan to the HRD Ministry in its application seeking IoE tag. Apart from the proposed nine new institutes, Delhi University is also looking forward to seeking more academic freedom , diversify sources of finance and self-financing of courses.

Such an attempt will reflect DU’s resolve to respond to the future and present needs of our society as of the globe, stated the proposal.
