With no official announcement as of now, it is being reported that the premier University of Delhi is planning to scrap the fitness test which is conducted every year to grant admissions to students under the Sports quota.
Changes proposed in DU Admissions 2017:
- The centralised sports trials will continue to be conducted but as a part of the same, about 10 percent weightage will be designated to the discipline-specific fitness test.
- There will be an increase in the weightage that is allotted to sports trials for final selection of candidates under the same quota.
- Admissions will be granted to the selected candidates based on their trials and the certificates they possess in a ration of 60:40. It is important to note that the maximum marks will be allotted to those candidates who have international certificates.
- The weightage that will be allotted to the performance will be different for different category of sports. For instance, in the case of football trials, candidates will be rated based on their overall performance and also on how they perform in penalty kicks, dribbling etc.

These recommendations have only been proposed before a standing committee. No final decision has been taken in regard yet.
In the year 2016, candidates who wished to seek admission at DU under the Sports quota had to appear for a total of three fitness tests out which it was mandatory to clear at least two. Moreover, earlier, there was a lot of confusion with respect to weightages and certificates. In order to simplify the process for the admissions committee and have a well-defined methodology, the above-mentioned changes have been proposed.
