The purpose of designing COAP was to ensure that both PSUs and IITs are on the same platform and make sure that the candidates make informed choices. It was noted that candidates, after taking up a job in a PSU drop out of their M.Tech study from IITs. Recruitments are done separately by the PSUs. Every year, more than 15% of the total M.Tech seats go vacant according to a report by a leading daily newspaper.
