The Deputy Cheif Minister of Gujarat, Mr Nitin Patel announced on Friday that the students who are born in Gujarat and have cleared their class 10th and 12 th from the state will not be required to produce domicile certificate for admission in Gujarat Medical Colleges . He added that the students can apply online for admission into the UG courses of MBBS , Homoeopathy , Dental , Ayurveda and Naturopathy .
The government decided to take this decision after a lot of students faced problems due to the domicile certificate. To make it easier for the students, the government decided that the students who are born in the state of Gujarat and passed the 10th and 12th level from any of 5 recognised education boards in the state will not have to produce domicile certificate for medical admissions.
The total number of seats in MBBS Stream in Gujarat is 4,650, in BDS (Dental) 1,155, in Homeopathy, 3,380, in Ayurveda 1,720 and in Naturopathy, 30. According to the preliminary assessment around 10,000 Students are likely to apply for medical seats in Gujarat and more than 8,000 students will benefit from this scheme.

Only students who are born outside Gujarat but have cleared 10th and 12th level from the state have to produce the domicile certificate. In that case, the parents of the applicant must be the resident of Gujarat state.
In the union territory of Silvassa, the Gujarat born students can apply in 10 reserved seats out of 150 seats in the medical college of the region which is newly set up.

The entire admission process will be conducted online from the upcoming academic year.
