Recently Doon University organised a conference on "financial inclusion and sustainable development" in collaboration with IIM Kashipur. The event was coordinated by Dr Sudhanshu Joshi, faculty of management of Doon university. Dr Somnath Gosh introduced the topic of the conference and talked about the new innovations in the financial inclusions.
Thereafter Dr M.C. Joshi secretary (finance), the government of Uttarakhand and guest of honour Mr C.P. Mohan CGM, NABARD addressed the gathering and briefed everyone about the importance of access to financial services, technology etc to the rural areas.
The key note speaker was Mr Vijay Mahajan, Basix. He explained financial inclusions in detail and the actions taken by the government to promote financial inclusions.
He explained the JAM trinity which stands for Jan-Dhan, Adhar and mobile. He told that it was is necessary today is MAAJA m for mobile, a for Adhar, j for Jan-Dhan and A which stands for 'Aayushman' which denotes universal insurance and the last A stands for aaJiVika which means livelihood. He emphasized the point that the post-liberalized generation that is youth of the country should start realizing that people have to work and be surplus producers.
The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Manab Chakraborty from IIm Kashipur. Mr. Sharad Kumar from RBI discussed about PMJDY implications. Eminent persons from different government and non-government institutes, research scholars and students from all over the country as well as academic and non-academic staff participated in this seminar.
