The premier defence research organization of the country -The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) to start a new research centre in collaboration with Jadavpur University with a whopping amount of Rs 100 crore. The new centre will monitor cyber security and robotics for the defence forces.
The new research centre will be named as Jagadish Chandra Bose Centre for Advanced Technology and the foundation stone of the centre has been laid recently. Right now it is housed in the campus of the state-run University.
The main focus of the centre will on pursuing collaborative advanced research, directed energy starting with secure systems, venturing towards other futuristic technologies, cognitive technologies, unmanned and then robotics technologies .
The centre will be ready within next two years. It will act as a self-accounting unit of The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO).
Jadavpur University located in Kolkata West Bengal is one of the premier university of India. Its two main campuses are – at Jadavpur and the new campus at Salt Lake. A third campus is to open at the site of the former National Instruments (CSIR India).
Over the years the the University has been ranked as the best University in the survey conducted by several leading organizations like – BRICS Ranking, Edu-Rand Ranking and Times Higher Education Eankings.
