Delhi University launched B.Voc courses in the year 2016 which were designed by the University Grants Commission as per National Skill Qualification Framework of the MSDE or Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. Students who opt for B.Voc courses will have the option to leave after second and fourth semester. These students will be awarded a diploma or an advanced diploma accordingly.
One of the officials of the varsity revealed that vocational subjects of the applicants in Class 12 would be treated as academic subjects. Students who have passed vocational subjects in Class 12, and wish to add them to best of four percentage will get an advantage of two percent. The candidates will also have an advantage of one percent if they have studied more than one related vocational subject.
For other courses such as B.A English (Hons), the inclusion of vocation subject in best of four percentage will lead to deduction of 2.5 percent. The Academic Council meeting of the varsity will take place on June 20, 2017, in which the teachers will discuss the UGC letter stating that B.Voc degree must be considered equivalent to other degrees.
