With an unending delay in the Delhi University convocation, students have now been asked to apply for a degree certificate.
Last year, the convocation ceremony was to be conducted in the month of March, but students saw it delayed until the month of May.
This year the convocation ceremony is nowhere in sight and according to a university source, students will now have to apply for a degree certificate. Also, once a student takes the degree certificate, he/she will no longer be entitled to a degree during the convocation ceremony .

The application process for this new system will soon start for the students. Earlier students received an advanced degree and later were handed a final degree with the convocation date mentioned.
This decision came into existence after the protests by medical students who demanded advanced degrees as they wanted to go to US and UK for higher studies and jobs.

According to the Dean of Examination, Vinay Gupta, the online examinations of the degree certificate will be invited at the DU portal and the students will have to submit documents and make payment via online mode.
Also, the controversy is rising as many teachers have said that it will be acceptable if only the name of the advanced degree is changed to degree certificate, but in case it will be held equal to the final degree, it won’t make any sense.
