Recently, a petition has been filed in High Court by a second-year law student against DU’s irregularity in the allocation of seats in LLB course. The petitioner claimed that over 500-700 (30%) students who seek admission in law courses are not serious about their education. These students merely join law courses at DU to avail hostel facility or prepare for competitive examinations. With a target to pass the exams, these students just rely on study guides, the petitioner claimed.

The petitioner further claimed that practical experience and in-depth understanding of a topic is possible only by referring to case studies. However, 30% students do not refer case studies and rely on study materials. Therefore, these students will not have necessary skills required to become a lawyer , commented the petitioner.

The Law Faculty of DU was also involved in a controversy after detaining first-year law students due to the shortage of attendance.
