The University of Delhi may conduct UG entrance tests from 2020. The varsity is likely to introduce an entrance exam for UG admissions 2020-21 apart from accepting Class 12 scores for admissions. If DU introduces an entrance test for all UG courses, a specific weightage will be fixed for marks obtained in Class 12 board exams.
The Admission Committee of Delhi University is yet to announce details regarding the introduction of entrance test for UG courses. DU VC, Mr. Yogesh Tyagi revealed that the admission committee is holding discussions with college principals, education experts, and university faculty for introducing entrance test for UG courses. However, UG entrance test will not be implemented for the admission session 2019-20.

If DU decides to go ahead with the UG entrance exams from 2020-21, it may seek NTA’s help for conducting entrance tests. Recently, NTA has given its nod for conducting JNUEE conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as well. NTA will conduct a computer-based test for JNUEE 2019 .
One of the major reason for preferring entrance test for DU UG courses is raising cut-off. Every year, the varsity is facing difficulty to determine the cutoff for UG courses, as the number of students applying for UG courses has been increasing. Therefore, entrance test might be a feasible option to get rid of cutoff issues.
The officials of DU are expecting that introducing UG entrance exam would encourage more aspirants to apply for DU UG admissions.

Another reason for proposing entrance exam for DU UG courses is the disparity between CBSE board marks and other state boards . If entrance exam replaces the existing system, such disparities in the admission process will be removed.
In the last two years, DU has made attempt to introduce an entrance exam for UG courses. However, the decision received criticism from the student community. Most students were against the introduction of a computer-based test for UG courses. Therefore, there is no clarity whether DU will go ahead with UG entrance tests or not.
