Here is a good opportunity for the students planning their courses through open learning medium. School of Open Learning, University of Delhi is set to introduce 11 new undergraduate courses from the next academic year. The new undergraduate programmes will include several subjects like - Sanskrit, Hindi, Economics, Psychology.

An official of the school said that these courses are the ones that have the least intake of students as compared to applications received in Delhi University's regular colleges. After the addition of these new courses, the number of undergraduates courses offered by School of Open learning will reach 16.
The new courses proposed to be incorporated in the open and distance learning (ODL) format are BA (H) History, B.Sc (H) Mathematics, BA (H) Economics, BA (H) Psychology, BA (H) Hindi, BA (H) Hindi Patrakarita, BA (H) Sanskrit, BA (VS) Marketing Management and Retail Business, BA (VS) Office Management, BA (VS) Human Resource Management and Secretarial Practice, and BA (VOC).
After detailed discussions, the governing body of the SOL has taken the decision to include the subjects from the next academic session starting from August 2017. But before that, the Delhi University will have to approve the same for which necessary documentations will have to be sent.
The School of Open Learning is a pioneer institution in the field of distance education in India. The school started its operations in 1962 with an enrollment of 900 students. Now, after four decades, the school has enrolled several lakh students. The admission process of the school for various courses is governed by the norms established by Delhi University.

The examinations of SOL is conducted under the supervision of Delhi University.There is hardly any differentiation in the course curriculum followed by SOL and the regular colleges of the University of Delhi.
