The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has been directed by the Election Commission of India to put the date sheet of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2017 on hold. The Commission has also asked the board to consult them prior to the announcement of annual exam dates so that none of the dates mingle up with the election procedure.

Amarnath Verma, Secretory of Allahabad, confirmed that they have been asked by the Election Commission to put the exam on hold. He further informed that a new date sheet will be prepared after consulting with the Commission.
According to the board’s recently released date sheet, the exam for Class 10 are supposed to begin from February 16, 2017, whereas the exam for Class 12 exams is supposed to be conducted from February 16 to March 20, 2017.
For the current session, the Board will organize the practical exams from December 22, 2016 to January 20, 2017. Close to 60,29,252 candidates have applied for the class 10 and 12 Board exams for 2017.
Out of these students, 34,04,571 will be appearing for Class 10 Board Exam and the rest 26,24,681 students will give the Class 12 Board Exam.

The UP board exams have been postponed earlier in 2012 due to the assembly elections as the dates of the exams were colliding with election schedule.
