The 4th edition of EmergE – the Annual Entrepreneurship Summit, started at IIM Shillong recently.
Sponsored by State Bank of India, EmergE 2015 created intense competition. The brightest minds from the best of institutes participated from across the country and tried to prove their entrepreneurial talent.
The event was inaugurated by Chief General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai, M. Rajeshwar Rao. The extravaganza started with the felicitation of the Vasundhara awardees for 2015. Vasundhara is an initiative by the SSM of Guwahati in collaboration with IIM Shillong that recognizes women entrepreneurs of the North Eastern States.
Queency Thangkhiew from Meghalaya was conferred the state award on the occasion. Other recipients of the State Award included Lata Lepcha from Sikkim, Toko Likha Yaram from Arunachal Pradesh, T. Jemima Achumi from Nagaland, Moirengthem Muktamani Devi from Manipur (also the title winner), Lalhimpuii Hmar (Lapuii) from Mizoram, Sukla Rani Debbarma from Tripura and Kanta Dey from Assam.
The state winners were awarded with cash award of Rs. 10,000/- trophy, plaque, citation and an Eri shawl each.
The mission recognizes one success story from each of the eight North-eastern states of the country. Among a multitude of achievements from starting successful businesses to expanding tourism for the state.
Several heads honchos from we established start- ups like Paytm, eCourierz.com, Ivy Camp etc. graced the stage and share entrepreneurs’ experiences.
The institute also hosted established businessmen in the ‘Experts’ Speak’ segment, with speakers, Vishal Kaul, Category Head, Smartphones & Tablets at Samsung and Karan Gambhir, Industry Head, Technology with Google.
