Over 100 students who appeared for CA Final Exam November 2017 were shocked when they realised that their qualifying status differed from scorecard and rank list. The Final Exam results of CA were announced on January 17, 2018. Over 70 students who had failed the exam as per scorecard were declared passed in the rank list.
For instance, Mahavir Gundecha who scored 194 marks in CA Final Exam was declared fail in the scorecard and he has been declared pass in the lists available on the internet.
Ankita Mulani also faced a similar problem. After the declaration of CA Final Exam results on January 17, she checked the official website to access the scorecard. She was declared fail in the exam as per scorecard available on ICAI website. On January 18, she checked the rank list available on the internet and found that she has been declared pass in the exam.

There were some minor discrepancies in the results. Students who faced the similar problem across various states brought the issue into the limelight through social media.
Responding on the issue, ICAI clarified that there were some mismatches or errors in the file attached to branches. However, the officials had figured out the errors immediately and had sent the corrected or revised version file to the branches and regional councils. The officials further pointed that this internal communication might have been shared outside leading to confusion among the student fraternity. According to ICAI, over 50-60 students have faced this problem.

On the other hand, a few students alleged that the candidates who scored more than 190 have faced the issue with the results. Many external websites have the rank and merit lists of CA Final Exams November 2017. Usually, ICAI officially declares the merit list and it is not possible for any external agency or website to prepare and publish the same. The list might have been leaked from the official database of ICAI, students pointed.
