EWS (Economically Weaker Sections) is a new category for which 10% of seats will be reserved in B.Tech colleges across Andhra Pradesh for the academic session 2020-21. Last year, the EWS category was included during the counselling process, which was a last-minute decision. In order to avoid the last-minute hassle, APSCHE (Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education) is including EWS as one of the categories in the AP EAMCET application form 2020. A meeting has been conducted with the convenor of all CETs, and the decision has been taken to include the EWS category in the application form.
AP EAMCET 2020 official notification has been released on February 29, 2020, and the online application form submission began on February 29, 2020. The candidates can fill the application form directly from this page.
With the implementation of EWS category for AP B.Tech admissions 2020, the number of seats increased across all government and private colleges. Every year, almost 30-40% of B.Tech seats remain vacant in colleges, and the increase in the number of seats will just increase the percentage of vacant seats. This may not be a problem for the government and top private engineering colleges. However, colleges located in rural and remote areas will have to deal with this situation.
