The first convocation ceremony of Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur will take place on April 14, 2017. The first batch of Post Graduate Programme, i.e., 2015-17 will be receiving diplomas during the convocation ceremony. The event will be conducted at the auditorium of Visveswaraya National Institute of Technology .
According to sources, Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways will be the chief guest for the occasion. The management of IIM Nagpur is also making efforts to invite Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. One of the officials of IIM Nagpur revealed that PM Modi is likely to visit Nagpur city on the same day and the management is trying its best to invite him.

L.S. Murty, Director of Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur revealed that the convocation ceremony would be conducted in a grand manner. The management has been working consistently to make the event a grand success.
L.S. Murty is the newly appointed Director of IIM Nagpur. He assumed the charge on March 23, 2017. Until March 2017, there was no full-time chairperson and director for the institute. Later, the Ministry of Human Resource and Development appointed L.S Murty as the Director and P.T Gurnani as the Chairperson.

The placements at IIM Nagpur turned out to be fruitful as more students bagged decent packages and were placed in reputed companies. Some of the students also bagged summer internships and the highest stipend offered was Rs. 1.06 lakh for two months, which in itself is remarkable.
