Around 20 Medical students of Osmania University came to Guntur to participate in an Inter State sports at Amalapuram on 10-March-2016. They had successfully participated in the competitions and started their drive to Hyderabad on 14-March-2016 at 11.00 PM. They were going by a private bus.

There were around 25 passengers on the bus out of which 20 were the Medical students. They found that the driver was drunk and asked him to halt the bus somewhere as it was dangerous to travel. But the driver did not listen to the students and started to argue with the students. He refused to halt the bus and when the students forced him to stop, he continued to increase the speed. When senior students approached him, he aggressively veered off the steering saying that he had ten years of Experience. The students complained to the Dhanunjay Travels to change the driver but the travels did not respond properly.

The bus crossed Vijayawada and at the outskirts of the city the driver hit the bus to a tree near Gollapudi and the Four students who were arguing with driver to regulate the speed crushed to death including Driver. Around 10 students were seriously injured. The accident took place around 1.00 AM.

  • Driver Vemula Ravi Shankar.

Their bodies were stuck under the seats as the bus overturned. The injured students were taken to a nearby hoapital.
