The Chief Minister expressed that his government will give the highest priority to school education and will also try to increase financial support in the education sector. CM added that textbooks will be uploaded online free of cost allowing students and parents to download them as other government initiatives for improving the current education situation.

In addition, Amarinder informed about a pilot project to encourage English speaking among the government schools students in at least two schools in each educational block from next month, apart from which he had promised to set up five new colleges in the state in the current financial year, notwithstanding the resources constraint and the financial crunch that the government faces.

He expressed his concern with the society split where urban children are favored for good education and given opportunities to study in top colleges while others with a poor educational background, therefore pointing out that the government has inherited a collapsed educational system.
