FTII Pune launches Film Criticism and Art Reviews Courses

A short term Film Criticism and Art Review course has been introduced in FTII Pune jointly with IIMC Delhi. The short term course is a part of the country-wide Cinema Skill development courses initiative taken by FTII Pune.
 

FTII Pune launches Film Criticism and Art Reviews Courses

The Film and Television Institute of India - FTII Pune which is the most eminent Film School in India has launched new courses of Film Criticism and Review of Art. The Institute has issued a notification that the courses will begin on 28th May 2019.

The short course span is 20 days and the course will run till 19th June 2018. The course of Film Criticism and Review of Art has been introduced in FTII with the joint endeavours of the institute and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication - IIMC Delhi as the official release stated.

Bhupendra Kainthola, the Director of Film and Television Institute of India - FTII Pune said on the course that the demand of Film Critiques, Reviewers, Bloggers, Research Scholars, film academics or anyone who has an understanding of cinema and interest which is beyond normal.

He also added that to ‘Read’ a film is essential to criticise or review it. The course will provide students with all the tools for this work.

Bhopal based filmmaker Rajulah Shah will be heading the course who is also an Alumni of Film and Television Institute of India - FTII Pune. She said that the course is designed to provide a basic foundation in terms of film criticism and to train the students to become serious cinema watchers.

Through the structure of critical thinking, the course also includes the study of some historic cult films and the history of cinema, she added.

The Film and Television Institute of India - FTII Pune launches this course as a part of the nation-wide cinema education outreach initiative which is known as SKIFT or Skilling India in Film and Television. Under the SKIFT initiative, 135 short span courses have been introduced which are set to be held in 37 cities across India with the huge number of participants which is around 5,800.

The last date to apply for the course is 22nd April 2019. There are no specific eligibility criteria or age criteria set for the course. The course is open for all participants who have an interest in cinema.

The Film and Television Institute of India - FTII Pune is the top film institute in India with Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute - SRFTI Kolkata. Both the film institutes conduct a common entrance test ' JET 2019' for admissions in the full-time courses of FTI Pune and SRFTI Kolkata .
