The education department is planning to introduce a bifocal course in the online admission process for first-year junior college (FYJC) . As per the officials of the education department, students could opt for bifocal courses. There are various vocational courses under the vocational education scheme offered in commerce and science stream.
Candidates who wish to take up engineering after grade 12 can opt for bifocal courses in FYJC. Those who take up science -bifocal, have an option to drop biology and second language subjects and can choose subjects like computer science, electronics electrical maintenance scooter servicing among others. It is mainly opted by candidates who do not wish to take the biology.

Colleges offer an option of various subjects in bifocal courses such as motorcycle servicing, electronics, electrical maintenance, mechanical maintenance etc. The number of complaints from students was increasing day-by-day regarding not being offered bifocal subjects in colleges.
Therefore the bifocal admission may continue with management and minority quota from this academic year. Rajendra Ahite, Deputy Director of School Education state that the department is yet to decide to take a decision regarding making these courses online and how is the course going to benefit the students from the same.

All the candidates who have passed the SSC or equivalent examination from Maharashtra or recognised board by the Government of Maharashtra are eligible to apply for First Year Junior College - FYJC (vocational courses).
