IIT Kharagpur will conduct the GATE 2022 examination on 05th, 06th, 12th and 13th February for aspirants seeking admission into various postgraduate engineering and science programmes offered at IITs, IISc etc. In this piece, we will discuss the previous year GATE mechanical engineering examination, including its difficulty level and weightage. Last year, the GATE mechanical engineering examination was conducted on 06th October across two sessions - Morning and Afternoon. This year, the GATE mechanical engineering examination is scheduled to take place on 13th February - again in two different shifts.

GATE 2021 Mechanical Engineering Exam Analysis (Session 1)
Overall the GATE mechanical engineering question paper (session 1) was moderate to easy in the difficulty level
The difficulty level of General Aptitude was easy
The difficulty level of the subject was easy to moderate
There were no MSQ questions
There were a total of 35 MCQ and 30 NAT questions
Topics that received the highest weightage were Thermodynamics & Application and Manufacturing
Candidates who attempted 40-45 questions fell into the “Good Attempt” category
