GATE Mechanical (ME) Expected Qualifying Cutoff Marks 2024: Although the difficulty level of the paper is one of the major factors influencing the cutoff, its variation is likely to affect GATE ME 2024 raw qualifying marks only in decimals. In 2023, the GATE mechanical engineering cutoff for the general category was 28.4 marks and in 2022, it was 28.1 marks. The difficulty level of this year’s paper is at par with the previous two years, hence any major changes in cutoff are not expected. GATE 2024 ME cutoff is expected to be between 28 to 29 marks. In terms of scaled scores out of 1000, it is expected to vary from 348 to 353. In 2023, 11,401 candidates qualified the GATE ME exam of 63,489 appeared candidates. The pass percentage of GATE ME has always been low over the years.

The average marks obtained by all appeared candidates was 16.02 marks in 2023 and 14.1 marks in 2022. The qualifying ratio in both years was around 17%, therefore despite the seemingly low cutoffs, the competition for GATE remains tough.
