Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) is an institute offering degree level technical courses in the State of Assam in the non-government sector established by Shrimanta Shankar Academy (SSA) Society. The college was established with permission from the state government and approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Gauhati University and also to Assam Science and Technology University. The Institute was founded on 7th September 2006 as the first non-governmental engineering institute in the state of Assam under the aegis of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society.
