Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), Visakhapatnam has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University, Russia to offer a double degree course in Ship Building and Ship Power, as well as, Automation Systems. The course will be exclusively offered to Mechanical Engineering students of GITAM. The MoU was signed during the CII Summit.

As a part of this collaboration, the premier and 119-year old Russian varsity will offer the following short-term courses to GITAM students: -
- Modern Ray and Welding Technologies
- Arctic Technologies in Shipbuilding
- Fluid Dynamics of Marine Vessels
Through this MoU, GITAM and St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University will facilitate student and faculty exchange programmes to share knowledge, language and culture.
St. Petersburg State Maritime Technical University is famous for the design, technical operation and construction of submarines, combat surface ships and sea-going vessels. Vice-Chancellor of the varsity visited the engineering and science departments at GITAM and appreciated the infrastructural facilities.

The International Students Affairs Wing at GITAM has been playing a dominant role in inviting diplomats and ambassadors of various countries to strengthen the academic ties. The varsity intends to offer a varied range of courses by collaborating with international universities.
GITAM has opened the admission process for the academic session 2018-19 through GAT 2018 . The registration process for GAT 2018 is underway, and interested candidates can submit online applications through the official website of GITAM.
