The Union Ministry Health and Family Welfare invited senior doctors, faculty, students, civil society and associations representing doctors to give suggestions for holding NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) 2018 for the admission into Super Specialty (SS) courses. Candidates clearing NEET SS entrance exam will be eligible for the admission to Post Doctoral Certificate Course (PDCC), Doctorate of Medicine (DM) and Master of Surgery or Chirurgie (MCh). The Health Ministry has been examining how the NEET SS 2018 exam was to be conducted and sought public opinion in this regard.
For the board speciality seats, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has proposed that the candidates will have to compete in their respective speciality. A single merit list will be prepared for counselling after the moderation between the different eligibility subjects for SS (Super Specialty) course, recommended the Ministry.

In the second model for holding NEET SS 2018, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has recommended that there would be an entrance exam for every SS course in which the candidates/ students from the eligible board speciality will be permitted to participate.
The Health Ministry also proposed that the candidates would be allowed to appear in a limited number of SS course and not all the courses. It would regulate/ prevent blocking of seats by the candidates at the time of counselling.
The Health Ministry has come up with another proposal that NEET SS 2018 could be conducted based on MBBS level paper of higher order difficulty. It would be a common paper for the applicants who will be allotted SS courses according to their eligibility and score in the entrance exam.
