Union minister Upendra Kushwaha informed that the government is in the middle of the process to offer OBC quota for the posts of faculties in central universities and IITs. According to the existing policies, the reservation that should have been implemented earlier was stayed as the authorities were unsure about the move.

The central government will soon arrive at a decision in this regard. The Minister of State for HRD also informed that OBC reservation will be offered to the students whose names are on the list of nominees for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas every year.
The minister also informed that SC and ST category students have also been provided reservation in the list. Every year, an estimate of 80 to 100 students are nominated to the various Jawahar Navoday Vidyalayas across India from rural regions of the country. These reservations are provided in accordance with the existing policies.
There was no similar provision for the OBCs. The decision regarding the same will soon be taken by the central government. The minister said that it is essential to make moves to uplift the OBC candidates along with the SC and ST candidates. He also said that according to the provisions laid down earlier, OBC students are entitled to the reservation in Jawahar Navoday Vidyalayas.

Kushwaha has also demanded reservation of OBC students in private sector jobs. He also said that he has taken the initiative to see that all the students get their right.
