The levels of unemployment is astounding in India. With lack of job, over qualified people are applying for posts as low as a porters’. A senior official in Maharashtra revealed on June 20 that 984 graduates and five MPhil degree holders applied for the five posts vacant for 'hamal' (porter).
Although applicants as qualified as MPhil degree holders applied have applied, the required educational qualification for the job post was just fourth grade pass.
Rajendra Mangrulka, Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) Secretary spoke about the numbers and said, "We have received applications from 2,424 candidates for the five 'hamal' posts. They include 5 MPhil holder, 9 PG diploma holders, 109 diploma holders and 253 with PG degree."
There are a lot of students eligible for Class A type exams who will be appearing for this class D type exam. The exam will probably be conducted in August.
Among the other applicants who have applied for the post are 984 graduates, 605 are HSC (class12), 282 of the candidates are SSC (class 10) pass and 177 below SSC.
The notification for the post was given in December 2015 by the MPSC. The age limit for the post was between 18 to 33 years.
