The cut-off marks will not make a huge difference in some of the renowned engineering colleges in Gujarat as compared to last year. However, the institutions and colleges marked as the second or third preference may lead to a cut-off that is almost two merit marks lower as compared to last academic session.
While comparing the merit list from the current academic year and last year, it was witnessed that the first 500 candidates in the merit list had 99.041 whereas the merit mark last year was 99.070. Around 39,000 have their names in the merit list of the engineering colleges.

According to the officials, the first 1,000 candidates in the state have a merit mark of 98.193 and the score for the first group was 98.224 last year. There has been a fall of 1.5 marks from last year which implies that majority of students have passed the exams with 60% aggregate. They also said that the course which is going to be in demand this academic year is computer and information technology.

Admission Committee for Professional Courses further informed that they have been getting a lot of student inquiries regarding information technology (IT) and computer programmes. Most of the students from the state want to opt for these courses because of the relevant job and growth opportunities they offer. As per the committee, the students are attracted to these courses because of their salary packages and exposure.
