The state government of Gujarat has announced that National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) would be mandatory for the admission to Postgraduate Medical and Paramedical courses in BJ Medical College and NHL Medical College.
So far, Gujarat University (GU) has been conducting its entrance examination for the postgraduate courses. A total number of 300 seats will be filled through NEET examination from the next academic session. GU has given the approval for the new rules after its syndicate members approved the same.

BJ Medical College and NHL Medical College offer a total number of 300 postgraduate medical seats and around 1,500 students have registered for the entrance examination so far. The interested candidates will have to fill the online application forms between November 23 and 25, 2016. The candidates need to submit their scores to the university by January 30, 2017.
The merit list of the candidates will be released on February 28, 2017, and the seats will be allocated on April 10, 2017.
Recently, Maharashtra government has also made NEET mandatory for the admission to postgraduate diploma medical courses conducted by College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPS). The institute offers a total number of 350 seats every year.

This year, NEET has created much confusion in the admission process conducted by various states. Most of the parents expressed that private medical colleges are granting admissions on a first come first serve basis and the candidates with good ranks did not secure seats but the candidates with low ranks secured seats.
