Mr. Ram Bilas Shama , Education Minister of Haryana, announced that the government would set up a University at Gurgaon within the current financial year. The announcement was made in the assembly. He cited that the Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar had announced in a public meeting at Kakrola Village in the month of April that a university would be set up. The village panchayat had passed a resolution to transfer land to the university.

The Education Minister also assured that engineering and B.Ed colleges which are affiliated to Kurukshetra University would not be shifted to any other university.

He mentioned that the government is laying particular emphasis on the quality of education. He asserted that 20,000 teachers would be recruited by the government soon.
He also said that reforms had been brought in both curriculum and education system. Slokas from Bhagavad Gita have been incorporated into the curriculum to inculcate moral values among the students. The government is planning to bring more reforms in higher education too.
