Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana, announced that the government is planning to set up a fishery science college at Hisar. He made this announcement at the foundation stone ceremony of a new campus at Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. He mentioned that the government would set up a fishery science college at the varsity campus. If the college comes up in the region, it will generate employment opportunities for youth. He further added that there is a need to promote livestock as it is essential to human life.

The state government has also given approval for the establishment of regional livestock centres in Mahendragarh and Karnal districts. Initially, a livestock centre will come up at Keorak Village, Karnal district.
He further revealed that the government is giving more emphasis to the primary sector by doubling the incomes of the farmers. The government has been working consistently towards the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The state government has been successful in increasing the per capita milk availability in the state. On the other hand, Punjab too witnessed a high increase in the per capita milk availability.

He advised the researchers to work on increasing milk productivity appreciated the efforts of the university in developing ‘Hardhenu’ breed of cow which gives 35-40 litres of milk every day.
He indicated that the state government has allotted 1,125 acres of land for the construction of the new campus.
