Apart from providing excellent managers to the country, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow knows how to unite its students.
Professor Devashish Das Gupta had a brilliant ice breaker idea to develop team spirit among students. He organized a football match to bring students from different diversities together. It was a very smart idea to help students speaking different languages get rid of their hesitations and interact with each other.
The match was organized on Wednesday, August 24. The result was in front of the viewers and the students mixed up with each other in a team spirit.
South Indian students were also engaged in delivering commentary in Hindi to make them more comfortable with the language. Krishna Kumar, a student from Tamil Nadu gave commentary in his version of Hindi, making the audience laugh and lifting the spirit of the event. The commentary was also done in ten different regional languages.
The match helped to bridge the gap between students and created an outgoing setting among fresher students. Women’s team captain, Dolika Garg shared her experience on the field and said that it was fun being on the field and making friends while burning calories.
She also said that since everyone was playing for the first time, it made the experience even more enjoyable. She remembers the practice sessions and said that it was the time she will cherish for a very long time.

Pratik Pednekar was the men’s football team captain and he used to drag all his teammates to the field for practice no matter which part of the college they were hiding.
Rahul Kamath, the class representative says that the match introduced him to his new classmates and get to know them like family.
Football, unlike many other games, has the ability to bring people close. All credit to Prof. Gupta for coming up with this extraordinary idea to unite students.
