SC Hearing on NEET 2024 Cancellation 20 June 2024: Fresh petitions were filed in the Supreme Court seeking the cancellation of NEET UG 2024. There were multiple petitions filed in various HCs as well. On June 20, 2024, the Supreme Court took up the hearing on all fresh petitions filed seeking the NEET exam cancellation. Here are the important highlights of the court hearing.

  • The advocate representing the petitioners indicated that students in one of the centres of Meghalaya did not get enough time for the NEET exam on the exam day
  • The advocate further indicated that an academic background check needs to be done for all 67 candidates who topped the NEET exam
  • The counsel representing petitioners requested the apex court to form an independent committee to investigate the NEET matter
  • The counsel of petitioners raised doubts on why NTA did not made the details public of all candidates awarded grace marks
  • Another petitioner raised the contention of challenging the validity of holding a Re-test
  • Honourable Justice Vikram Nath and SVN Bhatti stayed the proceedings on the NEET issue in all High Courts. The petitions have to be transferred to the Supreme Court
  • The apex court denied to stay the counselling process
  • The court listed the matter for next hearing on July 8
  • All petitions filed on the NEET exam 2024 will be heard on July 8
Apart from the NEET UG 2024 controversy, the UGC NET exam cancellation came into the limelight raising doubts about the NTA's irregularities in conducting the exams. July 8 is going to be a big day for all NEET aspirants as the court might take a decision on the NEET issue.
