The Central Board of Secondary Education has come a long way from being established in 1929 as Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana. This year, the central board will be celebrating its successful completion of 90 years. To celebrate the event, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has decided to release a Coffee Table Book where interesting write-ups on the legacy of the 90-year-old world’s largest education board.
The book will be released on Friday, 1st November by the HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank.’ The book will have the mention of schools under CBSE which have completed a century!
To set up the board in its present status, the articles on development policies will have its place in the Table Book. the first board of secondary education was set up in 1921 which was the UP Board of High School and Intermediate Education after that, in 1929, a joint board was set up as the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) got its present name in 1952. When its jurisdiction extended in 1962, CBSE got reconstituted.
While talking to PTI, senior CBSE official told that the Coffee Table Book will have more than 100 pictures from the historical archive related to the board. The photos will portray important events behind CBCE’s rise over 9 decades as the biggest board of the world.

The official informed that the board not only has over 20,000 schools in India but also 23 schools abroad are affiliated to it. Many changes happened in the past 9 decades in the development of the board, functioning of the heads, and the adaptions board took to maintain with the cultural fabric of India have made the board stand in its current place.
1,200 principals from CBSE affiliated groups worldwide is set to attend the event of Coffee Table Book Launch at the 25th National Annual Conference of Sahodaya complexes.
