He further said that there is no need to be surprised if 40 to 50 percent of B.Ed colleges lose their affiliation in the coming three to four months since 40 percent of the colleges have not furnished their affidavits which will lead to criminal prosecution. This includes details such as number of teachers in college, classes taken by each etc. This indicates there is some problem and a large number of so-called B.Ed colleges are not doing the work that they are meant to do. He expressed that strict action will be taken against the people playing with education in the country.
The announcement was made when Swarup was giving a speech at a seminar hosted by the Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Informing about the various steps taken to ramp up the school education sector, Swarup said that a national assessment survey will be held on the basis of learning outcomes proposed by the Centre. He added that a national test like Common Admission Test or SAT will be conducted for evaluation of teachers. A merit list will be released accordingly and the states will be able to decide if they are interested in employing these teachers or not. Also, they will not be forced to go along with this examination and will have the choice to conduct their own examination.
