It is not the first time that the HRD Ministry emphasized innovation. Over the last four years, the government has been trying to improve innovation and research output to make an impact globally. Smart India Hackathon is the best example that promotes innovative thoughts among students. PMRF Scheme is another initiative to encourage research. Such initiatives will for sure witness positive results and development in the long run.

The new ranking system, which is named after Former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihar Vajpayee, will play a significant role in promoting innovation in the Indian institutes. Former Union HRD Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar has officially announced ARRIA at the inauguration of an Innovation Cell at AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Even the Prime Minister of India has declared the decade 2010-2020 as the decade of Innovation.
