Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India has released the ARIIA 2020 rankings for both Private and Public Funded Institutions.
In order to promote a culture of innovation and research in higher learning institutes, the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has taken a unique step by introducing
Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements – ARIIA
. The ARIIA list for both private and public institutions has been released on August 18, 2020. The rankings have been released bu Honourable Vice President of India, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu and Union HRD Minister, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal.
It is not the first time that the HRD Ministry emphasized innovation. Over the last four years, the government has been trying to improve innovation and research output to make an impact globally.
Smart India Hackathon
is the best example that promotes innovative thoughts among students. PMRF Scheme is another initiative to encourage research. Such initiatives will for sure witness positive results and development in the long run.
The new ranking system, which is named after
Former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihar Vajpayee,
will play a significant role in promoting innovation in the Indian institutes. Former Union HRD Minister, Mr. Prakash Javadekar has officially announced ARRIA at the inauguration of an
Innovation Cell
at AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Even the Prime Minister of India has declared the decade 2010-2020 as the decade of Innovation.
