Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has invited masters and doctoral candidates to apply for the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) 2019. 15 scholarship will be awarded to the candidates on merit basis. Among 15 scholarships, 10 will be awarded by Republic of Korean Government. The scholarship will only be available for International students who have been previously rolled in in the scholarship program mentioned.
The scholarship will be awarded in the following streams -
- Electrical Engineering
- Bio-Technology
- International Relations (With Korean Studies)
- Korean Language
Eligibility Criteria for the Korean Government Scholarship Programme
The eligibility criteria for the Korean Government Scholarship Scheme (KGSP) 2019 can be checked below -
Educational Qualification
- By 31st Aug 2019, the candidate must have a bachelors degree in a relevant or similar subject for availing the Master's scholarship.
- For the scholarship in Doctoral degree, the candidate must have a masters degree in related subjects by 31st August 2019.
- Candidates who have received an invitation from National Institute for International Education or NIIED’s designated Institutes of Korea are also eligible for applying for the scholarship.
The candidates who received an invitation from the National Institute for International Education must comply with the following norms to be eligible for the scholarship scheme -
(a) For post-doctoral research program, a doctoral degree is must for the candidate which was attained on or before 31st August 2019
(b) For the professor exchange program, a candidate is directed to have a masters or higher equivalent degree in relevant subjects by 31st August 2019.
(c) For Profession in Culture, Science or Education, international professionals must hold a masters or higher equivalent degree in related subjects by 31st August 2019
Age Limit
- For people applying for masters and doctoral programs, the age limit is 40 as on September 1st, 2019
- The upper age limit for working professor candidates’ is 45 as on September 1st, 2019

March 20, 2019, is the last date to submit the online application form for the Korean Government Scholarship Scheme 2019. The online application forms can be submitted through the Sakshat portal (website).
