In a disturbing development, the Biology question paper of class 12th has reportedly leaked by some unknown elements just a day before the examination. Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has postponed the Biology paper to March 19 following the leakage. The exam was scheduled for March 8.
AHSEC Chairman NM Hussain told to the media that a CID probe along with a departmental inquiry has been ordered to nab the culprits at the earliest who are responsible for the crime.
The All Assam Students Union (AASU) also expressed its shock over the incident saying that the repeated incidents exposed the incapability of the State Government, the Education Minister, the Chief Minister, and the AHSEC in particular. The students’ body claimed that this is a crime committed by the council and the government.
Earlier, the AHSEC had to postpone its Physics examination to March 17 after the question paper was leaked hours before the start of examination on February 24 last. The matriculation examination too conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, came under controversy just about a week ago, when in a serious incident, about 12,000 answer-scripts of various districts of the HSLC examinations were charred in a fire in an evaluation centre at Sankardev Seminary School in Jorhat. The biggest damage was caused to answer-scripts belonging to the students of Bongaigaon district.
It is unfortunate for the students how these consecutive events took place in such a quick succession.
