ICAI CA May 2024 Exam Date: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has replied to a letter shared by an ICAI CA applicant seeking a clarification against the exam's classh with the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The letter requested the association to take cognizance of the clashing of the CA exam dates with the upcoming general elections in May 2024 and requested to accordingly reschedule the examination. However, the ICAI has clarified that once the election dates were out, requisite changes have already been made in the schedule and conveyed via a notice date 19/03/2024. As per this revised timeline, no examination will be held on the polling dates and on the day prior to the polling date.
ICAI CA Exam May 2024 Unlikely to be Postponed
The ICAI in the letter stated that two of the exam dates i.e., May 7 and 13, 2024, were crossing the exam schedule and have been revised accordingly. Moreover, the applicants are notified that the exams on these two days and their respective preceding days (May 6 and 12) will not be conducted.
The letter by ICAI writes, "In view of above [Lok Sabha Elections Schedule], Institute has decided not to conduct Chartered Accountants' examination not only on the election dates i.e., 7th and 13th May 2024 but also on the preceding day of the election date i.e., 6th and 12th May 2024. In short, there is no examinations on May 6th, 7th, 12th and 13th 2024. We understand that examinees who are working hard for the examinations should not loose their precious time in waiting long to write their examinations. At the same time, we also want that all our students should cast their valuable vote."
However, despite so, it has been argued that many students come from remote areas and will not be able to cast their vote due to the travelling restrictions. A good percentage of the applicants have to shift cities for the examination and thus, will face difficulty in exercising their democratic rights. The ICAI so far has not commented on the same and is unlikely to do so, unless intervened by the Election Commission of India.
