The Institute of Company Secretaries of India announced the limited time fee waiver scheme for the students of North Eastern States. This is done under company secretaries’ foundation and executive programme. This programme is a part of ‘Swavlamban - Samagra Shiksha, Samagra Vikas’ scheme where students from North Eastern region can get free registration from June 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018. They can register for any programme and the entire fee of the course will be waived off.
The main aim of this scheme is to empower the students of this region and inclusive growth of all parts of the country. This will also encourage the youth of north east regions to develop themselves into professionals and represent the corporate architecture of the country.

It was noticed that representation of students from the north east region in the institute was very low and if their enrollment was increased, the institute will be able to set up an examination centre in the state.
The institute is also launching career awareness programmes in various schools and colleges in the state. Institute has also been playing an important role in promoting governance and creating awareness in the country on various corporate governance issues.
A study centre has been set up by ICSI at the Rajiv Gandhi University under commerce department where the students can go.

All the students of NE states who have passed their 12th or equivalent or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent shall be eligible for fee waiver irrespective of their marks. Study material and counseling will also be provided to the students interested in opting the course.
