The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has introduced new syllabus for CS (Company Secretary) executive and professional programmes. The new syllabus came into effect from March 01, 2018. Under the new syllabus, the first examination will be conducted in December 2018 and June 2019 respectively. All the details regarding the ICSI new syllabus are elaborated below.
ICSI New Syllabus for CS Executive and Professional Programmes: -
At CS executive level, the new syllabus comprises of eight papers. On the other hand, there are nine papers at CS professional level including one paper opted by the students out of the eight elective papers available. The eight elective papers that will be offered at CS professional level are: -
- Insolvency – Law and Practice
- Valuation & Business Modelling
- Labour Laws & Practice
- Direct Tax Law & Practice
- Forensic Audit
- Intellectual Property Rights – Laws & Practice
- Insurance – Law & Practice
- Banking – Law & Practice

With a motive to enable the students to develop analytical skills, ICSI has introduced a new subject titled, “Multidisciplinary Case Studies ”. The new course will add significant academic value to the professional career of the students.
The other new subjects introduced by ICSI as a part of the new syllabus are: -

- Setting Up of Business Entities and Closure
- Jurisprudence, Interpretation and General Laws
