Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started inviting applications for 13 online courses and new SWAYAM courses . Those who are interested can apply for the same through IGNOU’s online portal (iop.ignoonline.ac.in ) or by visiting the Samarth portal. For the courses offered on the SWAYAM platform, candidates can visit the SWAYAM portal for registration at https://swayam.gov.in/IGNOU.
Professor Uma Kanjilal, Director, Centre for Online Education, IGNOU said that the admissions for the 10 courses have recently started taking the total to 13 online courses which are being offered. The University has also added another 24 courses on the SWAYAM portal and this has increased the total number of courses to 45. It also comprises some independent courses from various fields and subjects such as Sustainability Science, Sociology, Agricultural, Library and Information Science, Tourism, Law, Event Management, IT and Visual Art.

MHRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal, launched the new online courses through Facebook Live. Talking about the new online courses, Professor Nageshwar Rao, IGNOU VC said this is in continuation to IGNOU’s efforts towards MHRD’s Bharat Padhe Online Initiative.
A month ago, the Education Minister had launched IGNOUs MA in Hindi, MA (Gandhi and Peace Studies) and other online courses for enhancing outline education amid COVID-19.

Professor Rao also said that IGNOU has always strived to utilise technology in such a way that it reaches the masses and is accessible for them. IGNOU is also the National Coordinator of SWAYAM for Certificate and Diploma courses.
