Here is a good news for the students of non-technical subjects studying at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), and other 14 open universities from different states, as these open universities will now offer Ph.D. courses.
Higher education authority, University Grants Commission (UGC) has come up with a circular in this regard. While disclosing information about the same, Prakash Javadekar, Union HRD minister said that the decision was taken after a review of the matter.

The minister also said that PhDs have been allowed in subjects like social sciences, humanities. UGC’s regulations of 2016 relating to PhDs will be applicable in this regard.
While a senior official of IGNOU said that Ph.D. courses were offered till a few years back, but later they were discontinued due to some reasons. Now after the current circular, the university would start offering the courses once again.

For admission into distance Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Nursing programme, IGNOU (New Delhi) has also invited applications for the session of 2017. The last day for the submission of the application form is September 9 while the date for the entrance test is October 23.
The application fee for the programme is Rs. 1,050. The candidates have to send the fee through a demand draft, drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at New Delhi along with the application form.
