Due to the ongoing lockdown in the nation to combat COVID-19, IGNOU has decided to facilitate assignment submission by learners via email. Learners can submit the scanned copies of their handwritten assignments through an email to the respective regional centres, as per an IGNOU release. The regional centres will be accepting the scanned copies of the handwritten assignments through the designated e-mail id for the evaluation process. IGNOU has also extended the last date to May 31 for assignment submission for the candidates who will appear for the June Term End Exam. Due to the lockdown, the exam date was postponed to April 30, 2020.
As per the latest notification, IGNOU has announced that students can write their assignment in a notebook having plain paper and scan it and email to their respective Regional Centres. IGNOU has been proactively responding to the queries of the candidates pertaining to assignments, term and exam dates, study material etc. It also conducts online classes so that the students do not suffer academic losses.
To one query made by a candidate related to assignments, IGNOU's response is sure to give relief to many other students who will appear for the June term end exam.
India was currently under a 21-day lockdown till April 14, 2020, which has now been extended till May 3, 2020, and many educational institutes have moved classes online. IGNOU also moved to digital learning resources and is offering its study material through ‘Gyan Vani’ and ‘Gyan Darshan’ to the students. The exam and assignment form submission dates have also been postponed by IGNOU. It is also offering three certificate programmes which are completely online, and also courses through SWAYAM platform.
IGNOU e-content app has also digitised study material for all the courses. The app is available on Google Play Store.
IGNOU is also offering education via Gyan Vani radio during the ongoing coronavirus lockdown. Considering the fact that the students should not face any issues in education. Through the help of IGNOU’s Gyan Vani and Gyandhara, operated via the web these days, broadcasting is done from 8 am to 8 pm every day.
It is for the very first time IGNOU has allowed students to submit their assignment without going to their respective centres physically. This was done to make it convenient for the students and maybe to keep the evaluation schedule intact as the entire nation is under the lockdown due to COVID-19 outbreak.
