IGNOU will launch an online curriculum for MA Hindi and courses. HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' will launch the online curriculum of various courses.
IGNOU has been offering UG, PG, certificate, and diploma courses in the open and distance learning (ODL) mode and now it has started offering online courses too. Earlier, the university was only offering a few certificate courses in online mode but now it will offer UG and PG courses online too.
An official from IGNOU informed that earlier varsity had digitalized the study material for all its courses so that it could be downloaded from the website itself, but the mode of the courses remained open and not online
IGNOU has a separate portal for online courses, 'iop.ignouonline.ac.in'. Through this portal current and prospective students can check eligibility, duration of the course, fee structure, and also has the details about the programme coordinator. The online programme will have audio/ video lectures, tutorials etc.

Indira Gandhi National Open University has a dedicated centre for online education. The centre for online education at IGNOU has recognised a total of 85 online courses in all the different degree levels. There are 46 certificate courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, 22 diploma courses at the graduate and postgraduate levels, 2 courses at the undergraduate level, and 6 courses in the postgraduate level. IGNOU also provides 4 refresher courses. These courses will be launched online. The interested candidates must visit the official website to check out all the various courses that are offered by IGNOU.

Indira Gandhi National Open University has made required plans for initiating the courses such as the conversion of regular courses to online mode, identifying evaluators and e-counsellors along with the capacity building of the faculty have already begun. Indira Gandhi National Open University used to offer interested candidates the option of choosing the online mode for courses in the year 2011. However, it was discontinued.
