The eligibility criteria to pursue the PG Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication from IGNOU’s School of Journalism and New Media Studies are mentioned below.
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- They must have an aggregate score of 45% in graduation.
- It is necessary to have 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 from any stream.
- There is no age limit to apply for this course.

As per the official press release issued by IGNOU, the virtual launch was attended by the Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, along with Prof. G. Ravindran, Head of Journalism and Communication Deptt., Central University of Tamil Nadu; Prof. Anand Pradhan from the Deptt. of Indian Language Journalism, IIMC; and Prof. Umesh Arya, Dean and Former director, Faculty of Media Studies, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, Haryana.
While speaking at the launch, IGNOU VC Professor Nageshwar Rao said, "The school is making significant strides towards the fulfilment of National Education Policy (NEP) goals through its skill-oriented and employment-centric programs."
He further added, "IGNOU has shown significant achievement in the last few years, especially in the pandemic times and the efforts of the team at the School are laudable."
