To help more students pursue journalism and mass communication course, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has revised the eligibility criteria for its Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication (PGDJMC).
The Open University has decided to do away with the previous criteria of a minimum of two years of work experience. All candidates who wished to pursue the programme were required to have work experience, which has now been removed by IGNOU. With the new criteria, all candidates who meet the rest of the eligibility criteria for PGD Journalism and Mass Communication and are without any work experience will be able to pursue the programme.
Revised IGNOU Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma in Journalism & Mass Communication
The candidates who aspire to pursue a course in journalism and mass communication from the institute must meet the revised IGNOU PG Diploma Journalism and Mass Communication Eligibility Criteria. The revised eligibility criteria require candidates to:
Have a valid Bachelors Degree in any discipline.
Pursue the programme without any work experience

The Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication programme offered by IGNOU has a duration of 1 year. However, the candidates will be able to complete the programme in a span of four years as well.

As per the institute’s official website, the objective of the programme is to provide aspirants with a chance to enhance their knowledge and skills in the field. The website states that the programme also aims to develop an understanding of the media as well as its impact on society along with producing the required manpower for the industry.
