A significant deal has been made between Indian Paint Association and Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) Shibpur to launch a Masters programme in Coating Science and Technology. The new course will be launched for the new academic session that is going to begin in July 2017. Through this deal, Indian Paint Association will help IIEST in framing the curriculum of the course. The curriculum will be designed in a more industry-specific manner.

Indian Paint Association will also organize development programmes for faculty members. The main objective is to expose them to the problems of industry.
Ajoy Kumar Raj, Director of IIEST explained that the main intention of launching this collaborative education and research programme is to create an appropriate workforce for the coating industry. Coating is a significant segment of manufacturing industry and there is a lack of skilled workforce in this segment.

The deal was signed between Mr. Kalyan Kumar Bhar, Dean of Research and Development at IIEST and Mr. Subir Bose, Former President of Indian Paint Association.
Mr. Bose revealed that through this agreement, Indian Paint Association would also develop innovative technology. On the other hand, joint academic and research projects will be carried out that include conferences, workshops, seminars, short duration courses and others. The major outcomes of the course will be a number of internship opportunities and placements for students. The students who successfully complete the course will be offered either internship or job in the manufacturing industry.
